CT of the Fingers is an imaging exam focused on the detailed assessment of the bone and joint structures of the fingers of the hand or foot. It is especially useful when X-ray does not fully clarify fine fractures, joint injuries or post-traumatic changes.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is CT of the Fingers and what is it for?<\/span><\/h2>\n

CT of the Fingers is a computed tomography scan that generates high-resolution images of the phalanges, interphalangeal joints and adjacent tissues.<\/span><\/p>\n

This exam is often indicated when precise characterization of fracture lines, bone consolidation or surgical planning is required.<\/span><\/p>\n

How much does CT of the Fingers cost?<\/span><\/h2>\n

The price of CT of the Fingers when performed on a <\/span>private basis<\/b> is <\/span>\u20ac100.<\/b><\/p>\n

    CT of the Fingers is performed with the patient lying on a table that slides into the scanner (open at both ends). The finger(s) must be carefully positioned to minimise movement.<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Joint dislocations and subluxations;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Degenerative changes (osteoarthritis) and inflammatory erosions;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Ligament injuries and associated bone avulsions;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Bone tumours and cysts;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Signs of bone infection (osteomyelitis) or post-operative changes;<\/span><\/li>\n

      In which cases is it indicated?<\/span><\/h2>\n

      CT of the Fingers is generally requested by the physician in situations such as:<\/span><\/p>\n

      • Trauma with suspected finger fracture not clarified by X-ray;<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Persistent pain and swelling without a defined diagnosis;<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Rheumatologic diseases with suspected erosions;<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Pre-operative assessment and planning of hand\/foot surgery;<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Post-operative follow-up or assessment of bone consolidation;<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Suspected bone or tumour infection;<\/span><\/li>\n

        CT of the Fingers with Contrast<\/span><\/h2>\n

        CT of the Fingers is usually performed without contrast. In selected cases, such as suspected infection, masses or tumours, intravenous contrast may be administered. The injection may cause a transient sensation of warmth or a metallic taste. In these cases, fasting for 4 hours is usually required (you will be informed at the time of booking).<\/span><\/p>\n

        Arriving early<\/span><\/td>\nGenerally, you only need to arrive 15 minutes before the exam, except in cases where oral contrast will be used. In that case, you should arrive 1 to 2 hours before the exam (you will be informed at the time of booking).<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

        When and how do you receive the results?<\/h2>\n

        You will receive the CT scan results within up to 7 days after the exam, by email or in paper form at the clinic. On the day of the exam, you will take the CD with the images with you. <\/span><\/p>\n
