CT of the Wrist allows highly accurate evaluation of the carpal bones, radius, ulna and adjacent joints, and is very useful in complex wrist fractures and in surgical planning.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is CT of the Wrist and what is it for?<\/span><\/h2>\n

CT of the Wrist is a high-resolution computed tomography scan of the radiocarpal and carpometacarpal complex. It is often requested when there is suspicion of an occult scaphoid fracture, intra-articular fracture lines and for post-traumatic assessment.<\/span><\/p>\n

How much does CT of the Wrist cost?<\/span><\/h2>\n

The price of CT of the Wrist when performed on a <\/span>private basis<\/b> is <\/span>\u20ac100.<\/b><\/p>\n

However, you can have CT of the Wrist through several <\/span>agreements<\/b>, including:<\/span><\/p>\n

    How is it performed?<\/span><\/h2>\n

    CT of the Wrist is performed with the limb immobilised on the scanner table, acquiring thin slices and 3D reconstructions. The exam lasts on average 10 to 15 minutes and is painless for the patient.<\/span><\/p>\n

    CT of the Wrist is an exam that can detect several bone and joint changes, such as:<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Intra-articular lesions and carpal instabilities;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Osteoarthritis, chondral loss and degenerative changes;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Bone cysts, tumours and post-traumatic sequelae;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Osteomyelitis and inflammatory processes;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Anatomical variations relevant for surgery;<\/span><\/li>\n

      In which cases is it indicated?<\/span><\/h2>\n

      CT of the Wrist is generally requested by the physician in situations such as:<\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Trauma with persistent pain and inconclusive X-ray;<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Surgical planning for wrist bone fractures and osteosynthesis;<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Suspected avascular necrosis of the scaphoid;<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Study of degenerative or inflammatory arthropathies;<\/span><\/li>\n

        CT of the Wrist with Contrast<\/span><\/h2>\n

        CT of the Wrist is usually performed without contrast. Intravenous contrast may be used in selected cases (infection, tumours, inflammation). The injection may cause a transient sensation of warmth or metallic taste. Fasting for 4 hours is usually required (you will be informed at the time of booking).<\/span><\/p>\n

        When and how do you receive the results?<\/h2>\n

        You will receive the CT scan results within up to 7 days after the exam, by email or in paper form at the clinic. On the day of the exam, you will take the CD with the images with you. <\/span><\/p>\n
