Arterial Echo-Doppler Lower Limbs

What is it?

Echo-Doppler of the Lower Limbs, also known as Arterial Doppler ofthe LowerLimbs, assessesarterial changes in the lower limbs, such as the presence of atheromatous plaques, vascular calcifications and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Generally speaking, Doppler ultrasound is an echographic method that allows simultaneous assessment of vessels and determination of their flow by the Doppler effect.

How is it done?

You are asked to remove your trousers/skirt to expose the part of the body to be examined, and to lie down on the couch.
A gel is applied directly to the area to be examined or directly to the probe to facilitate the procedure.

How long does a lower limb arterial Doppler ultrasound take?

The average duration of the exam is 10 minutes.

Should I take any special care after the exam?

After the examination, you can resume your normal daily activities.

Can Arterial Echo-Doppler of the Lower Limbs be reimbursed by the NHS?

Yes, any ultrasound can be reimbursed by the NHS.
