CT Fingers

CT of the Fingers is an imaging exam focused on the detailed assessment of the bone and joint structures of the fingers of the hand or foot. It is especially useful when X-ray does not fully clarify fine fractures, joint injuries or post-traumatic changes.

What is CT of the Fingers and what is it for?

CT of the Fingers is a computed tomography scan that generates high-resolution images of the phalanges, interphalangeal joints and adjacent tissues.

This exam is often indicated when precise characterization of fracture lines, bone consolidation or surgical planning is required.

How much does CT of the Fingers cost?

The price of CT of the Fingers when performed on a private basis is €100.

However, you can have CT of the Fingers through several agreements, including:

  • SNS / ARS: When CT of the Fingers is performed through the SNS, the patient does not pay any amount (it is necessary to bring the Health Centre prescription);

  • Insurance companies: Médis, Multicare, Advance Care, Allianz, Saúde Prime, Future HealthCare, SS CGD, SAMS Quadros, SAMS, Montepio, RNA, Generali, Mudum, MGEN, Aegon, Vitória, Una Seguros, other insurers. In this case, the price of CT of the Fingers varies depending on the insurance you use.
  • Health Plans: Medicare, Saúde Prime, Future HealthCare, Continente Wells, ACP, other health plans. In this case, the price of CT of the Fingers varies depending on the health plan you use.
  • Protocols: NRD has protocols with several clinics and institutions that allow you to undergo the exam at very competitive prices. In the case of CT of the Fingers, the protocol price is €80.

How is it performed?

CT of the Fingers is performed with the patient lying on a table that slides into the scanner (open at both ends). The finger(s) must be carefully positioned to minimise movement.

The exam lasts on average between 5 and 15 minutes.

NRD has a latest-generation Philips 128-slice scanner, which provides sharp images with a low radiation dose, ensuring safety and effectiveness in every exam.

  • Bone tumours and cysts;
  • Signs of bone infection (osteomyelitis) or post-operative changes;
  • Among others.

In which cases is it indicated?

CT of the Fingers is generally requested by the physician in situations such as:

  • Trauma with suspected finger fracture not clarified by X-ray;
  • Persistent pain and swelling without a defined diagnosis;
  • Rheumatologic diseases with suspected erosions;
  • Pre-operative assessment and planning of hand/foot surgery;
  • Post-operative follow-up or assessment of bone consolidation;
